Biography
Min Gyu Kim is a partner at Yoon & Yang LLC and his main practice areas are defense industry, public procurements, construction, occupational safety and serious accidents.
After completing the Judicial Research and Training Institute, Kim worked at the Defense Acquisition Program Administration and in the military, where he gained extensive hands-on experience in defense-industry matters such as development of weapons systems, technology transfer, and overseas procurement. He further strengthened his legal expertise by successfully handling major public procurement disputes, including litigation involving liquidated damages for delay in the Surion program and overseas litigation relating to the KF-16. He subsequently moved to private practice and served for eight years on the Legal Affairs Team of Hyundai Rotem Company, where he addressed a broad range of legal issues at the front line of the industry—from bidding and contract negotiations for domestic and international weapons development programs to dispute resolution in the defense industry and railway vehicles sectors, plant-industry disputes, and response to serious accidents.
With a balanced understanding of regulations from government perspectives and abundant experiences at the private sector, Min Gyu Kim provides differentiated and strategic solutions to protect and grow clients’ businesses in high-stakes matters, including overseas expansion projects for the Korean defense industry and global export control compliance.
