On July 3, 2018, Yoon & Yang LLC hosted the Seminar on UAE and Arabic Law with one of UAE’s leading law firms, Global Advocacy and Legal Counsel (Dubai and Abu Dhabi office). Practitioners from the construction, architecture and energy industries attended to learn important legal issues for Korean companies doing business in the UAE.
Early March in 2018, Korea and United Arab Emirates (UAE) agreed to upgrade their relationship from “strategic partnership,” which was established in 2009, to “special strategic partnership.” Following India (2015) and Indonesia (2017), UAE is the third country to form a special strategic partnership with Korea, and it is expected that Korea-UAE ties will only strengthen by time.

Nasser Al Osaiba, a Managing Partner of the Abu Dhabi office of Global Advocacy and Legal Counsel gave the lecture on the “UAE legal system, Islamic Finance, UAE labour law.”
Yoon & Yang English lawyer Yon Soo Kim gave a second lecture on the “UAE’s New Arbitration Law and VAT.” Yon Soo Kim explained the impacts of UAE’s new arbitration law on dispute resolution and introduced UAE’s new 5% VAT regime. Yon Soo Kim joined Yoon & Yang in March 2018 after serving as an associate director at HKA in Abu Dhabu and she is considered as a leading legal expert on the jurisdiction of the Middle East region.
